Fringe’s painting Resist Much features one of his his signature handwritten messages: “Resist much, obey little” — the famous words of American poet Walt Whitman. The phrase encourages independent thinking, questioning authority, and resisting blind conformity. The image of Alice in Wonderland surrounded by a sea of White Rabbits brings this idea to life. Rather than appearing as a timid young girl, Alice emerges as surprised but confident, determined, and unafraid to stand apart from the crowd.

Biography

Fringe left a corporate career for oil paint and bronze. Fourteen solo exhibitions later, from Johannesburg to Vienna, Dubai to the United States, he's built a reputation as a singular voice in pop art, fusing commercial iconography with deeply personal symbolism. His characters Gutinke Meine, Mylo, Nova and Quiet Boy each carry their own emotional language within his unmistakable visual world. He works anonymously, by choice.
