Hybrid Works

Hybrid Works are original artworks that combine multiple media in a single piece in Fringe's case, oil paint, mixed media, varnish and archival pigment applied directly onto 340gsm hahnemuhle metallic paper.

Unlike a traditional oil painting on canvas, a hybrid work layers different materials and techniques to create depth, texture and surface complexity that a single medium cannot achieve alone. The varnish seals and unifies the layers while the archival pigment ensures the work retains its colour and integrity for generations.

340gsm hahnemuhle metallic paper,is the same heavyweight museum rag used by old masters and contemporary artists worldwide it is acid-free, durable and archival, making it a serious and lasting substrate for original works on paper.

The result sits between painting and drawing, between the gestural and the considered works that feel immediate and raw on the surface but are technically layered and precise underneath.
