MYLO - Somnia Scribe

Mylo exists in the space between memory and myth, a forgotten toy resurrected not as an object, but as a presence. Etched into humanity through gesture, expression, and posture, Mylo absorbs our traits and reflects them back to us with disarming honesty. He is not a hero in the traditional sense, nor a relic of nostalgia alone, he is a vessel for shared experience, quietly carrying the emotional fingerprints of those who encounter him.

Designed to be childlike yet untethered to any single era, Mylo feels like a historical toy that never belonged to a specific childhood. His form oscillates between contrasts: futuristic yet forlorn, retro yet endearing. This tension is intentional. It mirrors the contradictions of being human. Hope and melancholy, innocence and awareness, resilience and vulnerability. Allowing viewers to project their own stories onto him. Mylo does not dictate meaning; he invites it.

In Fringe’s paintings, Mylo takes centre stage not as a spectacle, but as a surrogate for us all. He navigates real concerns with quiet gravity, confronting love in its many forms, romantic, familial, fleeting, unreciprocated, remembered. There is warmth in his ordinariness. He is not exceptional because he triumphs, but because he endures. His stillness holds space for reflection, and his simplicity becomes a language through which complex emotions are expressed.

Mylo embodies the universal condition: the ordinary person carrying invisible weight, longing for connection, and learning how to hold love without breaking under it. Immortalised through Fringe’s practice. Mylo becomes more than an alter ego, he becomes a shared mirror. In his silence, he speaks. In his vulnerability, he unites. And in his timeless form, he reminds us that what is most human is also what lasts.
